NASA M2M X-Hab Challenge offers university teams up to $50k awards

NASA has announced a new challenge that seeks proposals and more from university teams interested in helping humans return to the Moon (and travel beyond to Mars). The new opportunity is called the 2021 Moon to Mars eXploration Systems and Habitation (M2M X-Hab) Academic Innovation Challenge, M2M X-Hab for short, and it is accepting proposals from university teams through the end of April.

Facebook taps AI to turn almost any 2D photo into a 3D image

A couple of years ago, Facebook announced support for 3D Photos, but the feature was limited to images captured using a smartphone with a dual-lens ‘portrait mode’ feature. Things are changing thanks to the company’s machine learning technology, it explained in an announcement on Friday. Using AI, Facebook said it can turn almost any 2D image into a 3D Photo, expanding the feature to more users.

Nintendo Switch Suite costs $500 a night

A special limited time experience is appearing at Hotel X Toronto in March in which the “Nintendo Switch Suite” is made available. Hotel X Toronto’s teamed up with Nintendo of Canada to benefit Starlight Children’s Foundation with proceeds from a transformed Presidential Suite. The suite is designed “for social gaming with friends” and will cost guests approximately $500 per night.
