Xiaomi Black Shark 3 teasers leave little left to the imagination

MWC 2020 may not be happening but smartphone makers are proceeding as normal with their own announcements and launches. Some have even taken the rather unorthodox strategy of spilling nearly all the beans over on social media. That has been OPPO’s strategy so far and now Xiaomi sub-brand Black Shark is following suit, teasing some of the upcoming Black Shark 3’s key features ahead of a formal…

OPPO Find X2 10-bit high-contrast screen officially teased

In this day and age of the Internet and social media, there are products that get leaked so much that their creators barely have anything more to say when they get officially announced. Some of these companies frantically try to keep a tighter lid but OPPO is doing the complete opposite. More than just put out cryptic teasers, it is, slowly and massively, revealing the phone and its features in…

Galaxy Tab S6 Lite to offer a mid-range S Pen slate

Smartphone screens may be getting more pixel-dense but, thanks to shrinking bezels, they are able to keep their handy sizes. There are some things, however, that are still better served by a physically larger display, which is where tablets come in. There are only a few companies left in the Android world making such slates and Samsung may be close to launching one to keep its feet firmly planted…

Google Authenticator 2FA codes are at risk from this Android malware

Not all two-factor authentication systems, a.k.a. 2FA, are created equal and some, like SMS, are deemed insecure but still better than no 2FA at all. In lieu of ubiquitous biometrics, the easiest 2FA method recommended is the use of a 2FA app of which Google Authenticator is perhaps the most popular. But what if that 2FA app itself is discovered to be insecure? That’s the rather worrying…

Motorola Razr teardown reveals the hinge’s secrets

If you haven’t had your fill of fold tests and teardowns of this year’s most expensive and most fragile phones, YouTube channel JerryRigEverything is only too happy to oblige. The channel’s Zack Nelson already broke the Motorola Razr during his torture test so there’s nothing left to be done but to open it all up. We’ve already seen iFixit’s verdict on the phone’s dismal repairability but now…

Galaxy S20 Ultra camera update promised but timeline still unknown

Of the three new smartphones it unveiled, the Galaxy S20 Ultra is arguably Samsung’s favorite. It is the one that has the most features and the highest specs and, naturally, comes with the highest price tag. Given all that, you wouldn’t be blamed for expecting it to be the best but, as is common in real-life, imperfections known as bugs do creep in. Fortunately, Samsung says it is on top of…

Galaxy S8, Galaxy Note 8 won’t be getting Android 10

Samsung has definitely gotten better at pushing out timely updates, at least to its still-supported phones but it’s no Essential and will never really be one. It’s definitely not going to start indulging owners of its older smartphones, including older flagships, especially when there’s more to be gained by focusing on the current lineup. That’s why it shouldn’t really be a surprise that the…
