Surface Duo phone “peek” feature leaked, prodding all other foldables

If there were a way to make Microsoft’s efforts with software for the Surface Duo work on a device like the LG V60 ThinQ, it’d be great. The latest leak of the Microsoft Surface Duo shows a device that’s on the cutting edge of feature functionality. It’ll be like a book, opening with a pair of displays that run software that’ll function sort of like a tablet, sort of like a phone, sort of like a…

Surface Duo live demo fails, stealth edit saves the future

Microsoft is taking a big risk with the Surface Neo and the Surface Duo. It revealed the devices more than a year before even developer kits would be available and it gave these developers a head start even before the dual-screen devices hit the market. Its most recent gamble, however, was to show unfinished software on unfinished hardware on stage. Unsurprisingly, the Surface Duo refused to…

Surface Neo and Duo videos entice developers into a dual-screen world

It might have been easily overshadowed by Samsung’s Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Z Flip reveals but Microsoft also had something sizzling for its own developers. At its Developer Day event, the company finally launched the much-awaited and much-needed Windows 10X emulator to get development rolling for the dual-screen Surface Neo. Apparently, it also had a pair of videos to whet developers’ appetites…

Surface Duo and Neo will support existing apps but only on one screen

While foldable phones like the Samsung Galaxy Fold, Huawei Mate X, and, soon, the Motorola Razr remain the dream of phone makers, consumers may be more interested in more practical and less costly solutions. We’re still not sure if Microsoft’s upcoming dual-screen devices are going to be any of those but, considering their Courier inspiration, the Surface Neo and Surface Duo have unsurprisingly…

Microsoft Surface Earbuds release delayed to Spring 2020

This afternoon Microsoft Chief Product officer Panos Panay announced a release delay for Surface Earbuds. Earlier this year, Microsoft’s Surface Earbuds weren’t given a definite release date – but were generally assumed to be coming to market by the end of 2020. As it turns out, and confirmed this afternoon, these earbuds needed a little more work than originally expected.

Surface Pro X available now but buyers may want to hold off for now

The Surface Neo and the Surface Duo may have stolen Microsoft’s event last month but those two won’t be coming until late 2020 at the earliest. For more practical Surface users, the Surface Pro X is the one that brings the future here and now. That “now” is finally happening as Microsoft announces the availability of the latest ARM-powered Windows PC. Unfortunately, it seems that Microsoft still…

Surface Laptop 3 iFixit teardown tests the promise of easy repairs

At its Surface event, Microsoft’s Panos Panay made a huge claim that it would be easy to open up the third-gen Surface Laptop. While that may be non-news for most laptops, the Surface Laptop actually scored a miserable zero on iFixit’s rating because it was impossible to open up without destroying the thing. With the Surface Laptop 3 finally in the market, the DIY repair experts are putting both…

Surface Duo and Surface Neo to skip 5G, so have a good camera instead

Microsoft definitely wowed the crowd when it presented its already functional prototypes of its dual-screen devices, the Windows 10X Surface Neo and the Android Surface Duo. It has generated a lot of excitement as well as a lot of speculation given the gap between the announcement and the very late 2020 launch. Microsoft is naturally coy on some matters but Surface head Panos Panay is setting the…

Why Microsoft’s answer to a folding screen works better

This is the way to do it. Microsoft has been hard at work this year, unveiling a long list of new products, including a pair of folding devices: the Surface Neo and Surface Duo. Both these devices have two screens connected with a hinge that can fold a full 360 degrees. The Surface Neo is a folding tablet that Microsoft envisions as its evolution of a laptop. It has two screens and runs Windows…

Microsoft Garage SketchPal app targets small Surfaces like the Surface Neo

The Surace Pro tablets and especially the Surface Studio are advertised as creatives’ tools and yet few apps actually take advantage of their true nature. Of course, there’s always the full-blown Photoshop but few if not none that were designed primarily for touch and pen the way Procreate on iOS is. That target is what a new Microsoft Garage named SketchPal is trying to hit and, in trying to…
